A Prayer for Wildland Firefighters

Hello folks…

As you are no doubt aware, forest fires, their prevention, and the means by which we fight them is a major topic for me. I believe strongly that a Christian faith is a key component to doing things well in any aspect of life, including firefighting.

Therefore, I offer up this example of a prayer that we have prayed around here and I ask that you keep in mind some of the components of this prayer while you dedicate yourself to pray on behalf of those who need it daily. Please, consider including America’s wildfire fighters in your prayers every day – especially during fire season. It will only take a few moments and will make a difference in their lives – as well as your own.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the access we can have to you through the agency of the Holy Spirit, Lord.

Lord, we also thank you for the creation you have given to mankind and for your longsuffering in keeping that creation in your plan so that all of mankind can come to a knowledge of the truth of Jesus Christ.

Lord, we know that there are people out there trying to keep us and others safe from forest fires that occur in this day and age.

We pray that the wildland firefighters will have not only earthy peace and safety, encouragement and perseverance, but that they have these things eternally as well by their sole belief in Jesus Christ. May good ambassadors of you rise to the assistance of those firefighters and help to meet all of their needs, wherever they might be.

For all of those who are in the family of God - through Jesus Christ - Lord, we pray that these Christian people who watch the efforts of wildland firefighters will come to the aid of those in need with hospitality and support. We pray that the public will be ever more grateful for the efforts of those who serve all of our countrymen - help us to be enthusiastic in our encouragement and honestly appreciative towards those who need it. Let us rush to provide for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs as well as the needs of their families.

We ask this all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ...

Amen.
