Details for the 5th Annual Wildfire Heroes Special Event Station

Hello folks!

Our 2023 event is right around the corner! Due to limited volunteer staff this year we will be operating only SATURDAY, the 8th. We will be ON THE AIR from 0800-1700 PDT.

We will be operating on 40 meter, 10 meter and local VHF FM frequencies this year.

As in prior years, the certificates come in two flavors:

1) The standard DIGITAL certificate, available to stations working ANY frequency and contacting us via email (k7etb@tidelink.net) following the event with the general location of this year’s WHSES and their own logbook detail of the QSO. We must have these requests within 90 days of the event.

2) Those stations who wish to have a high quality commemorative certificate printed and mailed to their QRZ mailing address (free of charge) must meet this criteria:

a) They must make a contact on at least two frequencies.
b) They must send us an email (again, k7etb@tidelink.net) following the event with the following information: the contact details as they have recorded in their logbook, the general location of the WHSES this year and the location of their closest wildfire lookout tower (either active or historical). We must receive this information within 30 days of the date of the event.

For those who have participated in the past and received these certificates, we thank you for coming along with us on this journey towards awareness of the need for wildland firefighters and wildland fire prevention!

Those who wish to participate via the postal mail may also do so! If you would rather not use email to submit your request, feel free to mail it to the mailing address listed under my callsign – K7ETB – at QRZ. We appreciate QSO cards in addition to the other details above.

Thank you for your participation and 73!

Jason
